Examinations Officer – Secondary School in Oxford (ASAP Start)
A scholarly secondary school in Oxford is seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Examinations Officer to lead the planning, administration, and execution of internal and external public examinations for an immediate (ASAP) start.
Job Overview
The Examinations Officer takes responsibility for the administration, security, and delivery of all GCSE, A-Level, and vocational examinations across the school year.
Working directly alongside the Senior Leadership Team, SENCO, and invigilation staff, you will manage candidate entries, timetable exam rooms, secure paper handling, coordinate access arrangements, and manage results day logistics in full compliance with JCQ regulations. This is a full-time, ongoing or permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
Manage candidate exam entries, tier selections, and coursework submissions with awarding bodies (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC)
Schedule examination timetables, rooming allocations, and seating plans for external and internal mock exams
Enforce strict Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations regarding secure storage and examination conditions
Recruit, train, schedule, and line-manage a team of casual exam invigilators
Coordinate with the SEN department to implement approved Access Arrangements (extra time, readers, scribes)
Download, process, and distribute results on official national results days, preparing statistical summaries for SLT

Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a School Examinations Officer or Senior Assessment Administrator
In-depth knowledge of JCQ regulations, awarding body procedures, and access arrangement guidelines
Proficiency using school MIS platforms (SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom) and exam entry software
Exceptional attention to detail, stamina under high-pressure exam seasons, and strong leadership skills
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
