Job Overview
Music stands at the heart of this school's academic identity, heritage, and holistic pupil development. The successful candidate will teach academic Music across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (Cambridge IGCSE / GCSE), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level / International Baccalaureate Music).
Collaborating with the Director of Music and visiting instrumental specialists, you will guide pupils through musicology, practical performance, complex composition, and digital production, while assisting with chapel services, house music festivals, and international performance tours. This is a full-time, permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver intellectually stimulating, practical, and academic Music lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 (IGCSE), and 5 (A-Level)
Lead and rehearse diverse co-curricular ensembles, including string orchestras, vocal groups, wind bands, and chamber ensembles
Mentor exam-level candidates through composition portfolios (using Sibelius/Logic Pro), performance exams, and listening papers
Support the execution of the annual concert series, chapel music programs, recitals, and inter-house competitions
Monitor the progress of pupils undergoing external graded examinations (ABRSM / Trinity College London)
Participate actively in the school's pastoral and boarding/day house tutor system, supporting overall student welfare

Candidate Requirements
Honors degree in Music, Performance, or Musicology from a recognized university or conservatory
Teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE) or recognized independent school teaching experience
Demonstrated success in delivering strong academic outcomes at IGCSE and A-Level
Exceptional practical musicianship (keyboard/piano accompaniment and conducting skills are strongly preferred)
An active enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or readiness to apply)
