About the Role
St Thomas the Apostle School is looking for an experienced and organised Office Manager to be the operational heartbeat of our school. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee the day-to-day running of our admin team, manage school finances, coordinate facilities, and ensure everything runs smoothly so our staff can focus on what they do best—educating our students. Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the administration team, providing direction, support, and professional development
Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and expenditure management across school operations
Manage facilities, maintenance schedules, and vendor relationships to ensure a safe, well-maintained environment
Coordinate payroll, HR administration, and staff records in compliance with school and legal requirements
Liaise with governors, local authority, and external partners on operational matters
Implement and maintain robust administrative systems and processes
Ensure health and safety compliance across the school site
Handle general enquiries and provide excellent customer service to parents, staff, and visitors
Requirements
Proven experience in a school office management role or equivalent administrative leadership position
Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and resource planning
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and school management information systems (desirable)
Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and team leadership skills
A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
Understanding of school operations, safeguarding, and compliance requirements (or willingness to develop this knowledge)
