About the School

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory or school-based experience who enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure practical lessons run safely and effectively.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and support students across the science curriculum, helping to prepare practical lessons, maintain equipment and ensure laboratories are safe, organised and ready for use.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing equipment and materials for practical science lessons

• Setting up experiments and demonstrations before lessons

• Supporting teaching staff with practical activities

• Maintaining and organising laboratories

• Cleaning and safely storing scientific equipment

• Monitoring and replenishing laboratory stock

• Ensuring chemicals and other materials are stored correctly

• Carrying out basic checks and maintenance of equipment

• Supporting health and safety procedures within the science department

• Keeping laboratories clean, tidy and fully prepared

• Assisting with the preparation of practical resources

• Reporting damaged or faulty equipment where necessary

About You

The school is looking for someone who is organised, practical and confident working in a busy secondary school environment. Previous experience as a Science Technician, Laboratory Technician or in a similar scientific setting would be highly beneficial.

You should have a good understanding of laboratory safety, be comfortable handling scientific equipment and have excellent attention to detail.
