⚠️ Previous School Safeguarding Experience Essential

An Outstanding secondary school in Sutton is seeking an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead to provide strategic and operational leadership across safeguarding and child protection.

Previous school-based safeguarding experience is essential, with substantial experience working as a DSL or DDSL in a secondary environment.

You'll work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team while acting as a key point of contact for students, families and external professionals.

Your Responsibilities

  • Leading the school's safeguarding provision

  • Managing complex safeguarding cases

  • Overseeing referrals and external agency involvement

  • Maintaining detailed safeguarding records

  • Supporting vulnerable students

  • Working with social care and other professionals

  • Providing advice and guidance to staff

  • Delivering safeguarding training

  • Monitoring safeguarding policies and procedures

  • Preparing safeguarding reports for senior leaders and governors

About You

You should have excellent knowledge of KCSIE and statutory safeguarding procedures, with the confidence to manage complex and sensitive cases.

Experience with child protection conferences, strategy meetings, Prevent and multi-agency working would be highly advantageous.
