About the School
A fantastic secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking an experienced Design & Technology Technician to join its practical learning department.
The successful candidate will support the preparation and delivery of practical lessons while ensuring workshops, machinery, tools and resources are maintained safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing materials and resources for practical lessons.
Setting up workshops before lessons.
Maintaining tools and machinery.
Carrying out routine equipment checks.
Supporting teachers during practical activities.
Preparing resources for pupil projects.
Monitoring stock levels.
Ordering and storing materials.
Cleaning and maintaining workshop areas.
Following health and safety procedures.
Reporting damaged or faulty equipment.
Ensuring tools are stored safely.
Supporting school exhibitions and practical events.
Requirements
Previous experience working as a DT Technician within a school is essential.
Previous secondary school workshop experience.
Good practical knowledge of tools and machinery.
Strong health and safety awareness.
Organised and methodical approach.
Ability to work closely with teaching staff.
Good communication skills.
Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
