About the School

An excellent secondary school in Colchester is looking for an experienced IT Technician to join its IT team.

The successful candidate will provide practical day-to-day support to staff and pupils and assist with the maintenance and smooth operation of classroom technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responding to first-line technical support requests.

  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.

  • Supporting laptops and desktop computers.

  • Setting up classroom technology.

  • Supporting interactive displays.

  • Assisting with printers and peripheral equipment.

  • Preparing devices for new users.

  • Installing software and updates.

  • Logging technical issues.

  • Maintaining equipment records.

  • Supporting staff with basic technical queries.

  • Escalating more complex problems where necessary.

Requirements

  • Previous experience providing IT support within a school is essential.

  • Good technical troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Patient and professional approach.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Good organisational skills.

  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
