About the School

A brilliant secondary school in Canterbury is seeking an experienced Science Technician to join its well-established science department.

The successful candidate will provide practical and technical support across the department, ensuring laboratories, equipment and resources are fully prepared for lessons and maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing practical experiments and demonstrations.

• Setting up laboratory equipment and resources.

• Preparing chemicals and materials safely.

• Supporting teachers with practical lessons.

• Maintaining laboratories and preparation rooms.

• Cleaning and storing scientific equipment.

• Monitoring departmental stock.

• Ordering and replenishing resources.

• Checking equipment for damage or faults.

• Maintaining laboratory records.

• Following COSHH and health and safety procedures.

• Ensuring practical activities are prepared safely and efficiently.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Science Technician within a school is essential.

• Previous secondary school laboratory experience.

• Good understanding of laboratory health and safety.

• Strong organisational skills.

• Practical and methodical approach.

• Ability to manage multiple practical requirements.

• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
